Herbal Alchemy in your own kitchen. An Elderberry Syrup simple recipe to provide the immune support your body requires during the winter season or when you are feeling rundown.
Each recipe can be used to make 2 batches! After straining the first batch, return to pot and start over again! The second round will not be as potent as the first round but will still have plenty of medicinal benefits.
What you need: Elderberry Syrup Ingredients (listed below), 2.5-3 cups water and honey
Directions: Empty contents into pot with water. Bring to a boil, cover and reduce to low, simmer until it reduces by half (45-60 min). Remove from heat, strain and let cool until lukewarm. Whisk in honey at a 1:1 ratio. Store in fridge.
**alternatively you can take the honey portion and divide by half and do 50% honey and 50% alcohol for longer storage purposes (note this will make it a thinner consistency like a tincture versus a syrup)**
*for children under 1 (or to make vegan), maple syrup may be substituted*
Recommended Intake: Adults take 1 tbsp/day and Children take 1 tsp/day.
*may increase intake to a couple times a day when ill*
