Essential Oil Roll-On Recipes

February 04, 2024 in Essential Oil Recipes

As I continue to shift, let go and embody the higher energetic versions of myself, I find that what I am drawn to, shifts as well. While I do believe that essential oils are a wonderful tool, I am finding myself wanting to shift towards more whole plant remedies. There is absolutely a place for the use of essential oils, and we will continue to use them at some capacity in my family, I am stepping away from creating with essential oils. One of the big reasons why is the amount of herb needed to create such a small amount of essential oil. With that said, I share my recipes for all the essential oil roll-on blends that I offered within my store, so that you can re-create them for yourself and families.

For these blends, I used a glass 10-ml roll-on bottle and my carrier oil of choice was Organic Grapeseed Oil. The brand of essential oils that were being used was Young Living.

Herbal Salve/Balm Recipes

February 02, 2024 in Salve and Balm Recipes

In every business, there are opportunities to pivot and change and with that comes the ripple effect. While I have chosen to no longer offer these salves and balms within my store, I offer you my recipes. That way you can continue to enjoy them by creating your own herbal magic within your home. You will be able to find almost all of the botanical herbs within my online store, but will need to source your own essential oils, carrier oils and beeswax to make your own!

My preferred method of making the infused oils for the salves/balms was the Solar Method. This method is slow and I usually let my infused oils sit in a nice, sunny window for 1-2 moon cycles. You may choose to use a quicker method like the slow cooker method, double boiler method or even the alcohol intermediary method. I also preferred to use dried plant matter, as fresh plants have a high water content which can cause your oil to mould if you’re not careful. The amount of carrier oil needed will depend on the amount of herb used. Once my herbs are in the jar, I fill until the oil completely covers the herb by about 1/4”. Sometimes the herbs used are light and fluffy, so they may tend to float near the top. Aim for that 1/4” between what is floating near the top and the rest at the bottom. Give your jar a good shake once you’ve added your oil and let it settle. Take a look and see if all your herbs are covered and add more carrier oil if needed. Now, you let it sit, infuse and give it a shake every once and a while.

After your 1-2 moon cycles, it is ready to strain. You can strain through cheesecloth or a nutmilk bag into a clean bowl/jar. From here you will use the double-boiler method to heat your infused oil, so that you can melt in your beeswax. Again, the amount of beeswax needed will depend on how hard you want your salve to be. Start small and test randomly, by putting a drop onto a spoon and letting it harden to see how soft/hard it becomes before adding more. Once you’ve reached your desired hardness, you can add your essential oils (recipe dependent), stir and then pour into your salve containers.

Calendula Balm:

  • Calendula Flower (Whole)

  • Organic Avocado Oil

Herbal Healing Salve:

  • 1 part Plantain Leaf

  • 1 part Lemon Balm

  • 1 part Lavender

  • Organic Olive Oil

  • A few drops of Lavender Essential Oil

*for reference I was using 15 drops in my recipe, with my “part” being 1 cup of each herb, but that makes a very large batch!*

Pain Relieving Salve:

  • 4 parts Arnica Flower

  • 1 part Peppermint Leaf

  • 1 part Yarrow Flower

  • 1 part Chamomile

  • 1 part Calendula

  • Organic Olive Oil

  • A few drops of each of the following essential oils (Panaway, Aroma Siez, Peppermint and Northern Lights Black Spruce)

*for reference I was using 15 drops of each with my “part” being 1/4 cup*

This salve is not recommended for use on children, due to the Panaway and Peppermint essential oils.

BooBoo Balm:

  • 1.5 parts Plantain Leaf

  • 3 parts St. John’s Wort

  • 3 parts Calendula

  • 1 part Yarrow Flower

  • 1.5 parts Chamomile

  • 1 part Lemon Balm

  • 1 part Lavender

  • Organic Olive Oil

  • A few drops of Lavender Essential Oil

I hope this eases the sting of these products being discontinued and that you find a new joy in making your own magic while creating your own salves/balms. There are a couple of each of these salves/balms left and on clearance in the store. Grab them before they’re gone for good! Up next, I will be sharing my Essential Oil Roll-On Recipes!

Best of luck!

Ashley
